Peycibeau - Grande-Maison

The magnificent Grande-maison is of huge proportions and is perfectly suited to catering for large numbers, whilst at the same time various different living areas ensure that guests, if they wish, can enjoy some privacy and independence from each other. The property particularly lends itself to special family occasions and has hosted for example 50th wedding anniversary celebrations with three generations of a family gathering together, and also special birthdays - 40/50/60ths - what better excuse for family and friends to come together for a week or two to celebrate! In addition to the wonderful setting, we can offer help in organising certain aspects of your holiday - for example a chef to come to the house to prepare and serve a delicious gourmet dinner; a sommelier to present a wine tasting and some tips on the excellent local wines; babysitting and a full maid service so that everyone can enjoy a truly relaxing holiday - (for full details see Let Managers in France)

Available exclusively for the months of June, July and August, the Grande-maison is made up of the main part of the house together with the adjoining ground-floor cottage: 7 bedrooms in total which sleep 14 persons - a further 5 children (6 including the cot) can be accommodated on comfortable sofa-beds situated in some of the bedrooms. Alternatively, the main part of the house can be rented (at a reduced rate) on its own, offering 5 bedrooms which sleep 10 persons - a further 4 children (5 including the cot) being accommodated on the sofa-beds.

Apart from the magical setting of Peycibeau, it is also the luxuriously and beautifully appointed interior of the house that sets this holiday home apart from the rest. For example the calm and relaxing library on the first floor landing, the elegant drawing room, the impressive marble-floored hallway and its grand piano, and a stunning reception room, of truly stately home proportions, with no less than five pair of French doors opening out onto the courtyard - there are 3 distinct parts to this magnificent room; at one end a large dining area, a lounging area with designer leather sofas centred around the fireplace, and at the other end a full-size snooker table.

The main part of the house has 4 bedrooms upstairs: a double bedroom with en suite shower-room and dressing room; a twin bedroom with additional sofa-bed; one of the master bedrooms which adjoins another double bedroom, each with their own dressing room. These three bedrooms share a luxurious central bathroom. Downstairs is the second of the master bedrooms - a beautiful large suite with French doors opening into the courtyard, it has a double bed and a sofa-bed, en suite bathroom and a dressing room. The two remaining bedrooms, one double and one twin, are in the adjoining ground floor cottage which can be accessed either from inside the house or independently. There is also another sofa-bed in the cottage. Three of the bedrooms have air-conditioning. If required the full size cot can be placed in any of the bedrooms, and there is also a child bed-guard and various high-chairs.

Once the summer months arrive, just the other side of the courtyard and next to the swimming pool, the summer house adds a fabulous new dimension to life at Peycibeau. (See Summer House for photos & details) Dining 'al fresco' in the shade of the summer house, overlooking the Peycibeau landscape is really the perfect way to spend a holiday with family and friends!

Because some of the bedrooms and living accommodation are on the ground floor and there are various wide entrances, with the help of very shallow ramps being put into place if requested, many areas of the house are accessible by wheelchair. The swimming pool is also accessible by wheelchair from the house and with certain shallow ramps put into place, so too is the summer house. Please ask for more specific details about this.

We have Wi-Fi internet covering the house & grounds - so you could pick-up your e-mails whilst sun-bathing around the pool ...... if you really have to! TV's are available in various rooms for watching either satellite TV or DVDs and there are some radio/CD players.

Guests are invited to roam around our 42 acres of private countryside - not another house in sight! - Or relax in the courtyard garden where the soothing sound of the fountain, the scent of the lavender, and the perfect shades of pink roses all mingle together to entice your senses - Or sit out and sun yourself on one of the numerous terraces, which all have garden furniture or sun-beds and parasols. If it is the right time of the morning or evening, you might see the deer grazing in the meadow, or a hot air balloon floating by. As well as the hours of fun to be enjoyed in the pool, children have the parkland all around to play in and the surrounding woods to explore - there is a wonderful tree-house, a large trampoline, and a giant Jenga, and for smaller children, a play area with swings and a slide. The produce of our land is yours to enjoy: we have a well-stocked herb garden just outside the kitchen door, fruit and walnut trees, and wild mushrooms (if in doubt ask at the pharmacy in the village, where they will say which are edible - or not!) Electric gates to the Peycibeau estate ensure complete seclusion - visitors will be given an access code for the duration of their stay - and there is ample parking close to the house.

We try to be environmentally conscious here at Peycibeau - the swimming pool is solar-heated, as is the domestic hot water. We make our own bio-fuel for the tractor, and we encourage guests to do as we do and recycle their rubbish during their stay.
